Draft of October 23, 2026

Board Engine is a planning tool for film and commercial shoots. You put real client work into it (storyboards, scripts, references, camera notes), so this page sets out plainly what we keep, where it lives, who can see it, and how to get it removed.

What we store

  • Your account. Your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google. We don't use passwords; sign-in is by Google or by a one-time email link.
  • Your work. Studios, projects, boards and frames, camera data, references, shot notes, gear lists, ledger pages, comments and reactions, and the files you upload (images, PDFs).
  • Access records. Who belongs to which studio and project, invitations you send, and the review links you create.
  • Things you send us. Access requests (name, email, role, what you shoot, optional next-job date and how you heard about us), in-app feedback (with the page it was sent from), and account-deletion requests.
  • Basic technical logs kept by our hosting providers (for example IP addresses and request times) for security and debugging.

Where it lives

Your data is stored with Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage) in a United States region. The app is served by Vercel. Sign-in emails are sent through an email delivery provider. If you choose Google sign-in, Google tells us your email address and basic profile. If our spam check is switched on, Cloudflare Turnstile sees the request-access form. These providers process data for us, under their own security commitments; they don't get to use your work for their own purposes.

Your studio's work stays private to your studio

Storyboards, scripts and client material are visible only to people with access to that studio or project: members you invite, at the role you choose. Access is enforced in the database itself, not just hidden in the interface. Nothing is public by default, and we don't show your work to other studios.

Review links

A review link lets someone without an account view a project (and, if you allow it, comment) without signing in. Anyone holding the link can use it, so share it with care. You can revoke a review link at any time from Settings. It stops working within seconds, including for anyone who already has the page open. Links can also be set to expire. Comments left through a review link are stored with the project.

AI features

Some optional features use AI: the storyboard interpreter in the import wizard, and script import. When you run one, the content involved (a storyboard page image, or the script text) is sent to Anthropic's API for that request, and the suggestions come back to you to review. Nothing is sent unless you run the feature. More detail is on the AI use page.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your data, and we don't share it with advertisers.
  • We don't use your storyboards, scripts or client material to train AI models.
  • We don't read your projects except when you ask us to help with something, or when we must to keep the service secure or meet a legal obligation.

Deleting your data

You can ask us to delete your account from Settings → Account, or by emailing hello@boardengine.app. We process deletion requests within 30 days and confirm by email. Deleting your account removes your personal details; studios you own, and their projects, are deleted too unless you ask us to hand them to another member first. Backups roll off on our providers' normal schedule.

You can also ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct it, at the same address.

Changes

This is an alpha, and these notes will change as the product does. If we make a change that matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
